Children with speech and hearing impairments in Bangladesh have historically faced neglect and exclusion from education, leaving them marginalized and without opportunities for development. Recognizing this critical gap, Samprity Aid Foundation established the Samprity School for Speech and Hearing Impaired Children in 2020. The school aims to ensure secondary education for these children using sign language and foster their integration into mainstream education and development.
Since 2022, with financial support from Humanity Beyond Barriers (HBB), Samprity Aid Foundation has been implementing the ” Secondary Education for Speech and hearing Impaired Children” project under Samprity Welfare School for Speech and Hearing Impaired Children. This initiative seeks to address the systemic inequities faced by these children, enabling them to complete their secondary education and pursue higher education at colleges and universities in the future.
Approximately 90% of the students enrolled in the school come from the poorest families, reflecting the dire socio-economic challenges these children face. The project not only provides education but also aims to equip these children with the skills and knowledge to become agents of change within their communities. By focusing on sustainable livelihoods and ensuring a higher quality of life, the initiative envisions breaking the cycle of poverty and exclusion that has long defined their lives.
