Sensitization Meeting with Teachers and SMC Members

Samprity Aid Foundation organized Sensitization meeting with School Teachers and School Management Committee (SMC) members on 22nd October 2022 at Samprity Meeting Room under the project “Promoting education rights of girls with disabilities by preventing sexual harassment, abuse and exploitation “Project Number:CFLI-2022-DHAKA-0001 funded by CFLI/FCIL, High Commission of Canada to Bangladesh.

Purpose of the sensitization meeting is to sensitized school teachers and SMC members about the safeguard of children with disabilities and role of Teachers and SMS members to prevent them from sexual harassment, abuse and exploitation. They will also train girls how to complain about any violence against them. Total of 20 Teachers & SMC Members attended the program and took part in discussion in the meeting.

The meeting was started with welcome speech of Head Teacher of “Samprity Welfare School for Speech and Hearing Impaired Children” Md. Asadul Islam. He explained the purpose of the meeting and described how the meeting will bring impact in the life of Children

Participants from different schools took part in discussion and shared their opinion, technique and approaches on how to ensure safe and protective school premises for the Girls with Disabilities and how they can move on the way to school properly. They everyone gave commitment to protect girls with disabilities from all sorts of violence, sexual harrasement, abuse and exploitation. Participants spoke on the meeting are : Assistant Headmaster of AK Secondary School Mr. Debendro NAth Gain, SMS member of Same School Mrs. Wahida Zaman, Headmaster of Rishilpi Centre School Mr. Taposh Kumar Dhali, Representative of Daily Dhaka Times Mr. M. Belal Hossain, SMC Member of Samprity Welfare School for Speech and Hearing Impaired Children Mrs. Taru Rita Mandol, Mrs. Sagorika Mandol and Shefali Khatun Shefa, Teachers of Same School Mrs. Dipa Mondal, Assistant Teacher of Taltala Madhyomik Bidyaloya Md.Obaidul Islam, Assistnat Teacher of Boarder Guard Secondary School Md. Ramjan Ali

Advisor of Samprity and Executive Director of HEAD Mr.Luis Rana Gani delivered his speech saying his commitment to prevent Girls with Disabilities from all sorts of violence. He added that every girl with disabilities has equal rights and we must defend their rights. He urged the Teachers and SMC members to ensure necessary protection for the girls with disabilities to their school and community.

Chairperson of the Meeting Assistant Director of Samprity Aid Foundation Mrs.Moly Mandol shared her experience with speech and hearing impaired girls and how they become victims on the way to school. She mentioned that every school should take necessary protective measures for Girls with Disabilities. In her speech she shared the mission, vision and core values of Samprity Aid Foundation. She gave thanks to CFLI (Canada Fund for Local Initiative), High Commission of Canada to Bangladesh for providing financial and technical support to the project. She gave thanks to all participants for their valuable time for the meeting.

Program Officer of CFLI funded project Mrs. Rehan Parvin was key facilitator of the meeting and she explained the project goal and objectives with the participants.
